My month of vampire research went well. I read five non-fiction books and have been reading vampire fiction books. I’ve read Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend, reread Twilight, read the Vampire Diaries and started on the Morganville Vampires series. I’m currently reading The Historian.

This month I’m reading books about writing and thinking about the novel. I’ve read the first section of No Plot, No Problem, and a book on writing horror from the Horror Writers Association. I’m reading Stephen King’s On Writing now. I still have to read Bullies, Bastards, and Bitches: How to write the bad guys of fiction and Writing Science Fiction and Fantasy by Orson Scott Card.

We were at the bookstore today (where I bought B, B, & B). I’m avoiding any books that go into detail on how you should or shouldn’t write something. Books on just characters, dialogue, plot, etc. I looked through a book on self-editing and got scared. It was so nit-picky and analytical. I will probably get a book on editing, in December, but not that one.
