Joe and I were discussing our wedding over dinner at Red Robin this past Saturday. Neither of us wants a big huge wedding, but we don’t want to just get married in a court house. I brought up the idea of honeymooning in Myrtle Beach and then wondered about getting married there as well. I looked it up today online and found this site: Wedding Chapel by the Sea. Besides loving the layout, they seem to be really good. I’d love to get married on the beach. It’s always been a dream of mine, but I never thought I could due to the expensiveness of getting everyone to a beach. Joe and I are thinking of having just us at the wedding due to his family being so far away and so numerous. My aunt has her old wedding dress, which would fit me. I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s from the ’70s and has long flowing sleeves, so it’s a possibility. It would be odd, not having any family or friends there, but I think I’d rather get married just us on the beach than with our parents in a court house. My only concern is the weather. They do have indoor chapels, but I’m not sure what their bad weather policy is. Maybe we could hold it in there. It would just figure that a hurricane would hit the day of the wedding or something. That’s really my major concern. If only we could control the weather.

This is by no means definate, but it’s what I want at the moment.

  • I think that sounds like a wonderful idea!! Stick to your guns, because I’m sure the family will have something to say about it. Just be careful not to step on any toes…you could always have a reception after you get home for anyone who wants to see you and wish you good luck.

  • You’re so right about sticking to your guns. I thought my mom would be for it, since she kept saying we should go to Vegas or elope or things like that. Today she was like, “well, I didn’t really mean it” and wasn’t that thrilled. I feel bad about wanting it to be just us, in a way, but that’s the only way we can get a location we really like.

  • that sounds so beautiful :) and I totally understand about wanting a small, non-fussy wedding! I kind of wish Mike and I were doing it with just the two of us… both sets of parents are suddenly coming up with things they want to do in Vegas (which is fine and totally understandable) but they want to know all sorts of things that we haven’t figured out yet and I’m getting a headache. bah.

  • That would be really pretty!

  • that sounds great!:)
