Reading the oldschoolers community on LJ is interesting. It’s for the “Internet Girl*Goddesses of the late 1990’s”. I had a domain since 1997, but I was never really part of that whole scene. I discovered it in 1999 actually, read some of the sites, and thought the whole phenomena was very fascinating. Reading some of the entries, some of these girls made their first websites when they were 11 or so. I was 15 when I first got on the internet, on a 14.4 modem. It’s just so odd to think about what my life would have been like if I had started going online even earlier…or if I had never gone online. It’s such a huge part of my life and I can’t imagine my life without it now. I wonder if people felt this way when television and/or radio first became popular.

  • heh, I feel like such a dork because I entered the online world when I was 12. I didn’t start webpages until I was 15 though :)

  • I read that community a little while back; I wasn’t really into that scene at all because I started going online really late! (1998)

I feel young still because I didn’t start going online until I was 17. Everyone else I know has been on for ages and ages!
