Just a quick little survey. I may be getting a new computer here very soon as my parents feel it would be better than spending almost $700 on the individual parts I need (basically, my computer decided to fall apart soon after my 3 year warrenty was up).
So, I’m considering two systems. One is $150 cheaper. Is it worth it to pay $150 for:
Pentium® 4 Processor with HT Technology 3GHz w/800MHz FSB over Intel ® Pentium® 4 Processor 2.8GHz w/533MHz FSB
120 gig hard drive over an 80 gig
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + FREE UPGRADE! 8x DVD+RW Drive over Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + FREE UPGRADE! 48x CD-RW Drive

Both of these will have 1 gig of ram and a geforce 128mb graphics card. Plus a SoundBlaster Live audio card and speakers w/ a subwoofer. I currently have an 80 gig hard drive my computer that I can put into the new one, so I don’t necessarily need the 120 gig hard drive. The DVD burner would be nice as would the better processor but I’m not sure they’re worth the $150. Heh, I feel kinda funny. Worrying about $150 when the new computer will already cost a little over a $1000.

Any thoughts?

  • Spend the $150. In the end the faster processor is what you are paying for and it is worth it. With the way technology changes it’s better to buy ahead as much as possible. By the time the warranty on this one goes bust it will once again be time to get a new computer. I remember 10 years ago when $2000 would buy you a 486 processor, so think of what a bargain you are getting… lol Take care! – Kim

  • I agree… spend the extra $150. it will be worth it, I think :)

  • I agree with the previous posters. =)
