Ahh, the Eve of Christmas Eve! Have you ever experienced a ‘Christmas miracle’? If so, explain. If not, has there ever been a Christmas story that has really touched you?
No Christmas miracles for me. I don’t know anyone personally who experienced one either. As for the Christmas story, I can’t listen to the song The Christmas Shoes without crying, that’s about the only thing I can think of.

What are your favorite Christmas commericals of past & present? What commercials do you never want to see again?
I don’t usually pay much attention to commercials (Joe however seems to get endless joy out of them). As for commercials I never want to see again…pretty much all of them.
Elves. Small with sparkles on their cheeks? Or tall with an attitude? Create an elf for me. What’s s/he like? What’s his/her job at the North Pole?
I either picture elves as little people who all look the same and make toys at the North Pole as in the Rudolph movie or as elves from Tolkien’s world.

Are any of your family members from other countries? What traditions do they celebrate that are unique to their country? If this doesn’t apply to you, which country’s traditions would you like to learn more about and why?
Nope, no relatives from other countries. I don’t have any other country that I’d like to learn about specifically, but learning about any of them would be cool.
When you were a kid, did anyone ever ‘play Santa’ for you to catch delivering presents on Christmas Eve? Does anyone in your household play Santa for the little ones? Do you have any memories of sitting on Santa’s lap? If not, is there a reason you didn’t go to see him?
No one played Santa or does now. I vaguely remember going to see Santa at the mall and have pictures of it but don’t really remember anything special happening.

Ornaments. Do you have many or few? Do you prefer “classic” ornaments, or handmade ones/ones that reflect pop culture (do you have Lucy, Barbie, or Elvis decking your halls)? Are there any ornament traditions in your household?
We have tons of ornaments, many dating from the 70s and 80s. I collected Barbie ornaments for the past few years. I like handmade ones best. We don’t have any real traditions about ornaments but when I was about 10 or so I bought this purple fish ornament for my dad one one year. Mom hates it and tries to hide it and then I move it to the front of tree in plain sight.

Explain how you normally find your Christmas tree. Do you play lumberjack and go and cut one down yourself, or do you buy a real/fake one? Regardless of how you find your tree, how do you decorate? Do you use popcorn & cranberries or tinsel & lights?
We have a fake tree, although when I was younger we had real trees. We never cut them down ourselves, but bought them at those tree lots. We always puts lights on the tree and we used to put tinsel, when we didn’t have cats that would eat it. We can’t use popcorn…the dog and cats would eat it. This year the tree is decorated in all homemade ornaments, as you’ll see if you look at the entry for Dec. 13.

Do you ‘deck the halls’, or do you decorate in moderation? If so, do you know someone whose house is usually decked to the nines?
We decorate a little above moderation. My mom replaces all the regular knick-knacks, coasters, flowers, table clothes and so on with Christmas ones. Plus we put up garland and lights and a tree. And lights outside and a lighted up tree and reindeer.
I don’t know anyone personally who decorates too much, but there’s always houses around here that are literally covered in lights.
