September is Vampire Month for Me

As I mentioned earlier, I’m doing NanoWriMo the year. My novel is going to involve vampires. I just read the Twilight Saga this summer. Whatever I do write, my main character isn’t going to be an annoying no-personality blob.

During September I’m going to be doing vampire research. This will also eventually go on my dark-creatures.com website (not up yet). I own at least 4 vampire “non-fiction” books already. I have a show on vampires saved on the DVR (along with Bram Stoker’s Dracula). And I took The New Annotated Dracula out of the library today.

I’ve been “into” vampires since before it was trendy. I remember when I was in 11th grade, sitting in the lunch room reading a book on vampires I had bought (the only book on vampires the store had). The girls I was sitting with probably thought I was quite weird.

During October, I’ll be outlining my novel. I didn’t do this last time and it may be a part of why I gave up after a week. And possibly doing more vampire research on TV, as it is Halloween month.

The Dresden Files

Joe has been trying for several years to get me to read the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher (Storm Front (The Dresden Files, Book 1)). I put it off because I’m always hesitant about reading author’s I’ve never read before (this is partly why I reread all my books 20 million times). It has plenty of the things I like: magic, vampires, faery creatures, other unhuman beings, sarcastic humor, and a tall dark-haired man. So once I finally started reading them a few weeks ago, I loved them. I’ve been plowing through them. There’s currently 12 out in the series and I’m on number 8.

If you like the Buffy the Vampire Slayer tv show, you’ll probably like these books also. The guy who plays Spike (James Marsters) actually does the audio versions (at least some…not sure if he does them all). I would love to listen to him read these.

Really, these books are great! Read them!

DVDs

Yesterday I started watching my Felicity DVDs again. I don’t own all that many TV shows on DVD. Buffy, Survivor Season 2 and Survivor All-Stars (I like Amber), the first 6 seasons of Full House, the first 2 seasons of Veronica Mars, Dinosaurs, 3 seasons of Boy Meets World, and the first season of Clarissa Explains It All. And Joe got the Stargate SG1 series, which I watched too.

I was so upset when I found out that they weren’t releasing the rest of the Boy Meets World or Clarissa DVDs. Just now I checked on their status and it seems that a new distributer has acquired Boy Meets World but no good news on Clarissa. I think it’s awful that they would release part of a series and then just stop. That’s just silly, when a lot of people wait until they’re all released and buy the whole set, since it’s usually part of a some special edition/packaging.

I’ve borrowed the Sweet Valley High series and Saved by the Bell series from Netflix in the past. I have Sabrina the Teenaged Witch coming up soon in my queue as well as Stargate Atlantis.

BSC

Recently I’ve been rereading the BSC books in order, minus the super specials and mysteries (I’m going to read those in their own order). I’m up to somewhere in the Friends Forever series part of it. I’m still missing some of those and a few from the main series (and some mysteries). As much as I enjoy reading them, the inconsistencies stick out more when you read them in order. Normally I read them randomly or all the Mallory books or something like that. It annoyed me especially how in one book Ethan was 16, then in the next book he was 15 again (Ethan is Stacey’s boyfriend in some of the books). Also, I’ve discovered Mary Ann is really annoying. I mean, really annoying.

TV Shows

A lot of the shows I watch are reruns but there’s some new shows that I do watch.

On the N:
Degrassi TNG and About a Girl

Fridays:
Ghost Whisperer and I’ve recorded each episode of Moonlight but haven’t watched them yet

Thursdays:
Survivor

and now Sundays I’ll be watching Amazing Race. I also watch Lost when it’s on.

I think this season of Survivor is the best in a long while. Part of it is probably the location…I was getting so sick of all the islands.
