magic

magic cat

This week’s Illustration Friday‘s topic was Magic. I’m not sure how I feel about this one. It was kind of an experiment. I printed out a picture of one of my cats onto watercolor paper, painted the hat on a seperate piece of paper, then painted the background around the cat. I was kind of rushed doing the background because my other cat (not the one in the picture) was trying to steal my paintbrushes and drink my painting water. You can’t tell in the scan, but the original is kind of glittery because I added an iridescent medium to my watercolor paint.

I may not like winter, but I do like snowmen.

Happy Winter Solstice!

Illustration Friday

I discovered Illustration Friday last week. Each week there’s a different topic to illustrate. I don’t know if I’ll do this every week, but I was in the mood to draw tonight. This is the first work I’ve done since the summer that wasn’t created on a computer. I used my watercolor pencils. This week’s topic was “Adoption”.

corporate identify development

For my Corporate Identity Development class, we had to create our own name and logo for an extreme soft drink. I named mine Inferno. It’s a cinnamon cola.

This past week we had to create a coming soon poster. The can was from a photograph that we were allowed to use.

Projects

I haven’t posted any of my class projects here lately, mainly because I’m not that pleased with them. I thought I’d show you a screenshot of the website I made for my last class. I don’t think it’s that great, but it’s kind of neat.

I really like the project I’m working on for this class (advanced typography), the magazine. So far we’ve made the cover page and the first page. Here it is if you want to see it. It’s in PDF form. I have a 91 in that class so far, which is good. Now I have to go do the discussion board question and then I’m finished for this week.

xstitch

Joe very nicely bought me a new cross-stitch kit the other day. I actually had another kit in mind when we went it, but they didn’t have it. I saw this one though and fell in love. It’s called Flowers and Lace. I’m not sure why I like it so much…maybe because it’s an actual design and not just a scene like so many are. There are about a million french knots in it, judging from the picture. It’s a good thing I like making french knots.

As for what I’m working on now, I’m working on the 2004 Christmyth ornament from Dragon Dreams. It’s a pegasus. It’s close to being finished. I’m not sure what I’ll work on after that. I worked on Not Forgotten a couple times, but am not sure if I want to work on that more or on something else. I just can’t stick with a project lately.
