We’ve been doing a lot more cooking the past few months. Most of the cooking is from recipes (online and from books) although I did come up with a barbeque (sloppy joe) recipe that we really like that was frankensteined from several different recipes based on what we had in the house. Maybe if people are interested I’ll post or link to some of the recipes that actually turned out well (with pictures). Some weren’t as tasty as we thought they would be. I also learned that I don’t really like cilantro last weekend.
I’ve been trying to eat low-carb and have been avoiding whole wheat as well, as it seems to make me nauseaous. I also can’t have Splenda as that makes me nauseaous as well. I do okay with stevia though in my tea.
Yesterday I made a mexican dip and we had chicken and broccoli in the wok. They both turned out well, but my favorite taco/mexican dip is still one that I learned from my friend’s mom in high school. Today I’m making chili in the crock pot. I haven’t tried this recipe before. I haven’t really found a chili recipe that I really like yet. Tomorrow we’re making cole slaw to take to a small family picnic at my parents’.
I love measuring and mixing up ingredients, but I’m horrible at chopping so Joe usually gets stuck with that. I do well with ground beef but won’t touch or cook chicken so Joe gets stuck with that as well.
Last weekend I made a homemade salsa and guacamole. I liked the guacamole, but didn’t like the salsa (it had cilantro in it). We also tried to make taco shells out of fried cheese based on a recipe earlier this week but that didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped.
