You know, I’m so tired about having to complain about work in here. In fact, I don’t think I ever had so many complaints about a job in so short an amount of time. Or so many different complaints actually. I’ve had problems with other jobs of course, but none like this.
I went in to check my schedule at work tonight. She had made it up for the next three weeks. She also changed the schedule for this week. I now work this Saturday night. Saturday was the day I was first supposed to work in the afternoon, then they said I requested off, then they said I didn’t but still didn’t schedule me for it. Now they scheduled me for it. Whatever.
That wasn’t the problem. The problem that for each of the next three weeks, I’m only scheduled for two nights each week. Other people are scheduled for three days. But not me. Each week I have about 9.5-10.5 hours. What the heck is up with that. I told her explicitly in my note that I need more than 10 hours a week because I can’t pay my bill otherwise. What does she do? Schedule me for 10 hours a week. You don’t give someone who you hired to work 20-25 hours a week only 10 hours a week when you’re giving other employees, who you didn’t hire for a specific hour range, more hours. I don’t begrudge Sue working more hours than me (she works three days each week) because I know she does need the money desperately and she also works a full-time job. Sue always gets three days a week and always has. But the three high school/just graduated high school students? They don’t have the bills to pay that I do. They don’t need the money as much as I do. And two of them were hired after me. I should have priority in hours.
If I get the job, then it will be great that they only scheduled me two days each week. That means I can start there next week. If I don’t get that job though, I’m going to be so supremely screwed money-wise and I don’t know what to do. I mean, I *asked* her already for more hours (through a note, but I assume she can read). I don’t know what else to do if they just won’t give me more hours.
I so desperately need and want that new job.
