new layout

As Krissy already noticed, I have a new layout. I wanted one where I made all the graphics myself. I had fun making the mask image Thursday night. I made it in Photoshop. I used a image I found of a butterfly mask to get the basic outline but other than that it was all me. I used my Wacom tablet and then just “painted” it.

This layout was actually inspired by an episode of Boy Meets World. It’s the one where Cory cheats on an IQ test. Mr. Feeney says the quote I have above, that “no one is what they seem to be”. You find inspiration in the oddest places sometimes.

I made the rollovers for the menu using ImageReady which I hadn’t used yet. I have to say I’m a fan now.

Here is the full basic (no effects added) version of my mask.

  • ImageReady = <3

when we were trained on it for my last job I was so amazed at all the things it could do. making graphics for rollovers in PSP was such a pain – had to line them all up just so… but in Photoshop and IR it’s just a matter of messing with layers and such. how did I do any graphic work without Photoshop?! now that I know more about it, I have no idea!

  • i love it!!!!! purple-y AND butterflies! and boy meets world!!! :)

    i love you too!

  • that’s how josh felt after taking a photoshop class. i’m still not completely sold, but i rarely make really nice graphics, so it’s okay! :)

  • I love this!

I’ve never used IR before, but I think Fireworks does something similar with the rollover images. I’m too lazy to figure out Photoshop, methinks. But you do a great job with it!

  • I *love* your new layout – it’s gorgeous, and I’m very impressed by the butterfly mask. I used ImageReady myself for the first time a few days ago — I use Photoshop a lot, but never got around to ImageReady, but it seems quite neat. :)
